I recently joined The Stop as a fresh staff member. On my first visit, I was met with welcoming faces and warm smiles. As I glided through the doors, visiting one program team to another and introducing myself, it took a short while for me to realize there is a thin line between staff and volunteers, who take pride in being a part of The Stop’s various activities.

As The Stop’s Senior Development Officer for Foundations and Grants, I’m particularly interested in seeing how our work translates to impact. For instance, from September 2023 to February 2024, The Stop reached 14,031 individuals through our food bank, which offers nutritious and culturally appropriate food using a dignified choice model. From being immersed in the drop-in meal services, community building programs, and activities out of our Green Barn, I could tell I joined a place that is committed to making a difference.

When reviewing this Mid-Year Impact report, I related to the quote by one of the community members:

“The respectful staff at The Stop serving wholesome food have made a difference in my life.”

Our work is only possible due to the support from our plethora of volunteers, staff, and donors. We are incredibly appreciative and thankful for this community.
