Green Barn Market
The Stop's Green Barn Farmers' Market, named Toronto's best Farmers' Market by NOW magazine, continues to amaze and improve each week with a seemingly never-ending array of tasty, seasonal Ontario food products. The market is held (mostly) indoors November through to the spring, 8 am to noon every Saturday. John and Irene Taylor will be back for a while with their venison, and we have a rotating roster all winter long that includes Fifth Town Cheese, Field Sparrow Farms and Scotch Mountain Meats. As the winter wears on and the fresh produce folks run out and either go on holidays or bring their jams and soaps and crafts to market, you can still find green stuff from Cookstown Greens, who will be joining us in January, and both Lis Foers and Kind Sprouts, with their sprouts. Monforte Cheese is set to return triumphant in February, with their growing line of Ontario artisanal cheeses. The Stoddart Family Farm come on the last Saturday of each month with their duck eggs, wool and meat CSA. Kawartha Ecological Growers brings their imaginative and seasonal fare.
Breakfast At The Barns
The Stop's Green Barn Market embraces local food with a Caribbean flare with Ali Harris' Fish Shak comfort food every Saturday morning this winter. Ali cooks up a roster of vegetarian and ovo/fish breakfasts featuring fresh, seasonal produce from the market. Look for delicious roti, fried fish sandwiches and fritters, egg toast, wraps, and whatever the season provides to this inspired chef. Jan 2010 through to spring.
