Welcome to the Green Barn!

Welcome to the green barn:
Growing community,
feeding change

The Stop’s Green Barn at 601 Christie St. It is s a unique urban agriculture hub in Toronto. It offers a greenhouse, community gardens, youth programming, a bake oven, a compost demonstration centre, and our year-round Farmers’ Market.

We empower community members to come together, learn how to grow their own food, and spend time in nature.

Our impact

Urban Agriculture

Our greenhouse and sheltered garden provide year-round growing space and an inspired environment for the community to learn and share agricultural knowledge.

Community Gardens

Grow vegetables for The Stop’s Food Bank and meal programs, and to take home yourself. Learn about environmental issues and organic gardening through our frequent workshops.

Support these programs by making a donation of any amount today.

Mashkikii;aki’ing Garden

We partner with the Sagatay program from Na-Me-Res (Native Men’s Residence) to animate the garden at Hillcrest Park, which includes the Mashkikii;aki’ing (Medicine Earth) Medicine Wheel Garden. This partnership provides the men of the Apaenmowineen (Having Confidence in Oneself) program the opportunity to share teachings and learn more about plant medicine, gardening, and healthy living.

Our Farmers' Market

Featuring local, sustainable, and organic products and great music, The Stop’s Farmers’ Market has become a neighbourhood meeting place, attracting more than 2,000 people each week and providing an important source of income for local farmers.

Support locally by making a donation today. Your support helps us offer good food in a way that makes a difference.
