A Moveable Feast
A Moveable Feast is an interactive fundraising opportunity that YOU get to host on behalf of The Stop. As we've imagined it, it is an evening of food, friends and learning, with the proceeds benefiting our community kitchen programs in our low-income neighbourhood. Our goal is to have 8-10 Moveable Feasts per year-with each evening hosted and produced by a different Stop supporter.

What hosting and producing A Moveable Feast entails is what we will try to explain here - with more detail in the kit, but for now, the most important thing to remember is that the event can be whatever you want it to be. It is you who will decide on the location, chef/caterer, menu, ticket price, secondary fundraising possibilities (silent auction, raffle, etc.) and invitees. The Stop will provide assistance along the way, but our hope is that you will take the idea and run with it. Our fundraising resources are limited and always stretched-that's where you come in!
Ideally, all aspects of each dinner will be donated, with charitable tax receipts issued for contributions. Ticket prices might range from $75 to $200 per person, and the event may also include a prize draw, silent auction or the donation of an item on The Stop's wish list (ie. food, a commercial dishwasher, laptop computer).
So start imagining how you might put your own stamp on A Moveable Feast. We want this to be fun for you and your friends. As we know at The Stop, food is an amazing way to bring people together.
Possible Scenarios
We're thrilled that you've decided you'd like to host A Moveable Feast . In order to get you thinking, here are a few scenarios-but remember, this is your event and you can personalize it any way you like.
A local restaurant One of The Stop's supporters is a regular customer at a French bistro on Queen Street East . She recently pitched the idea of hosting A Moveable Feast there and the owner has agreed to donate the space and a tasting menu for 10 people. Others may also have personal relationships with chefs or restaurateurs, or are regulars at a particular spot. But you will also find that restaurants will be enthusiastic because they will benefit from showcasing their menu and venue, as well as supporting a good cause.
A cooking studio Dish Cooking Studio's Trish Magwood kindly agreed to lend her incredible state-of-the-art kitchen and culinary talents for the first Moveable Feast. She led an interactive cooking class and the invitees sat down to a fantastic meal of their own creation. There are other cooking studios around Toronto , as well as demonstration kitchens connected to large supermarkets, the LCBO, etc.
Your own home One of The Stop's long-time supporters uses the same caterer for many of her parties; he recently agreed to donate his talents to A Moveable Feast evening at her home. With celebrity chefs hiring themselves out to individuals all the rage these days, a chef may also donate his/her time to lead your friends through a class in Tuscan or Korean cooking.
