Men's Cooking Group
The Men's Cooking Group is a community cooking program that brings together men of all ages and skill levels to cook and eat together. Each week, group members gather in The Stop's community kitchen at 1884 Davenport Rd. to prepare a meal and learn about knife skills, kitchen safety, meat-handling, budgeting, and planning healthy meals. The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month.
The Men's Cooking Group also places an emphasis on social justice and community development. Coordinator Hussein Silva shares information pertaining to food security, health services, legal services, and settlement services in order to expose participants to the range of different services available to them. The Men's Cooking Group provides a warm, inclusive space where participants can learn, grow, and connect with food and each other. The program provides access to food through sharing collective meals, builds skills through community meal preparation, and reduces social isolation by fostering connection between members. Most importantly, it's also a lot of fun!
