The focus of the Drop In is on prevention, namely, intervening before a crisis erupts. A safe, supportive environment ensures that problems related to such issues as health, income and/or housing get addressed before they become full-blown crises.
The Stop's Drop In allows us to keep our community centre open all day Monday through Friday.
The Drop In enables community members to access support networks, community information, friendship and nutritious food. Through an intensive outreach strategy we have been able to connect with some of the most vulnerable residents in our community, including homeless people and isolated adults.
"I moved into the community in February, and I didn't know anyone. I stayed in the house. Then I came over to The Stop and they told me about the Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood Centre. I went there and ever since I've been going to both. I don't stay home any more."
"I enjoy coming and meeting new people. I love the cooking programs. When I get up in the morning The Stop is a place to look forward to, not only for the cooking groups but also the crafts and workshops."
